July.

Denmark, Copenhagen – 1000 years of history combine with lively café society. Michelin starred restaurants and hot-dog stands share the streets. Summer is the time to sample Danish delights. A nice 22 deg C and a fair chance of rain.

UK– be prepared for weather of any kind in the UK it is notoriously variable, July to September won’t guarantee you sunshine but it should certainly be more frequent.

France, Bordeaux - Bordeaux has recently been awarded a UNESCO world heritage listing having no less than 3 world heritage sites. Whether you are touring or staying, Bordeaux makes a great base to explore the region. Probability of some rain, but a pleasant average of 24 degs C.

August.

Portugal, Porto – A comfortable 25 deg C (on average) will allow you to explore Northern Portugal and the Duoro valley. The 15th is Assumption day, a celebration with street festivals, parades and fireworks

Norway, Oslo – summer is the best time to visit if you are not a snow/winter sports person. The sun dips of the mountain around 10pm and temperatures are around 21 deg C. It will rain, as 14 days in the month is the average. Oslo is fast becoming a foodie destination with restaurant after restaurant winning international awards; it has more than fjords and majestic scenery to offer.

USA, Seattle - try to avoid the sea fog, and go in August when it is less likely, it will also be a comfortable 23 degs C. Seattle is surrounded by lakes and lush, green forests; there is a good mix of sights for everyone. The city has an excellent transport system and is easy to navigate.


September.

Brisbane – Slightly cooler temperatures in winter - but still 26 deg C. on average - with less rain than summer, makes September a good time to go. You will also catch the much celebrated ‘River festival.’

Italian lakes - Awe inspiring scenery surrounds hopelessly romantic lakes, Garda, Como, Lugarno and Maggiori. Sunny September (9 hours a day) is the time to visit and make that romantic gesture. A very pleasant 24 deg C, with a few days rain throughout the month.

Austria, Vienna – An easy city to explore on foot an September is a great time to do it. Its not all Mozart and museums, Vienna has its glam side, so don’t dismiss the shopping or the café society nightlife. 20 deg C average, with an average chance of rain throughout the month.

October.

Mauritius – Anytime from September to November is a good time to visit Mauritius. With bustling capital St Louis, uninhabited beaches, vivid marine life, golf and delicious Creole cuisine, it has a lot to offer. Its tropical climate brings humidity all year round, but October shouldn’t be too bad, with temperatures a reasonable 27 degs C and low rainfall.

Peru, Lima – An ancient history tour-de-force. Historic houses vie with long, sandy beaches, shanty towns and upmarket shopping and dining; not forgetting the Inca ruins, of course! A very pleasant 22 deg C, no rain, no humidity. May is also a good time.

Sicily – Let the summer heat subside and visit the largest Island in the Med. in October, when it is a more comfortable 25 deg C (average). As much as a stay at a stylish boutique hotel or a plate of delicious sea-food is an obligatory, a visit to the town of Corleone and a close-up view of active volcano Etna is a must.


November

Egypt, Sharm el Sheikh – Whether diving, snorkelling or lazing, or partying till the early hours (and beyond) Sharm is a real value for money destination. 8-10 hours of sun daily, moderate humidity, around 4 days rain in the month and an easy going 25 deg C average temperature.

Island of Hawaii – Wet and tropical or arid and rolling, both landscapes are available depending on whether you choose the east or west side of the Island. Adventure or luxury, volcanos or astronomy, Hawaii has it all. Humid all year round, but less so around November, temperatures are around 27 deg C, with short, sharp downpours.

India, Goa – November to February are generally dry with temperatures in the high 20s C. A place to chill out, switch off, enjoy legendary Goan hospitality, and Portuguese influenced food.


December.

Caribbean, Bahamas – Paradise Island has colonial charm, romance, golf courses, mega-marine life, water-sports and lots more. The Bahamian dollar has the same value as the US dollar, so good value at the moment. Dec – Feb will give you 25 deg C average temperatures with moderate humidity and a few sharp showers.

Florida, Crystal bay – How about Christmas in Crystal bay on the west coast of Florida? Escape the crowds and enjoy rural, old-style Florida, great for fishing, kayaking, trekking and cycling through nature reserves, forests and parks. The largest herd of manatees arrive from October to March and scuba diving and snorkelling is allowed with these endangered, gentle creatures. Temperatures around 22 deg C are good for outdoor activities, small chance of rain

Australia, Perth – Before the summer temperatures get going, try Perth on the south western coast. Friendly people, good food, leisurely boat-trips down the Swan River, and of course, mile after mile of unspoilt beaches. A comfortable 24 deg C average temperature and an occasional shower to be expected.
